A question for my readers.
Hi to all and a big thank you for following my blog! If it wasn't for you, this blog haven't have been half as fun as it is updating it. When i first started this blog, it was meant as a journal, a way to keep track on my progress both painting but also playing wise. To be honest i did not expect people to actually follow my blog and the progresses i made since it was born.
While writing in my blog is more rewarding that ever, i want to give something back to my readers for spending time reading and commenting on my silly ideas and models. So what i want from you(if you are willing), is to comment on this post what YOU would like to see here in the new year. Be it a certain unit(s), more tutorials(on something you might having problems with), more battle reports(maybe even improvements suggestions), maybe more Dark angels etc. As long as it have something to do with Imperial guard or Dark angels, the sky is the limit.
When i say something for the new year it is because i just started up on a little project which will fill out December. I recently trade my ogryns away for the old ogryn models(you know i am a sucker for the old stuff) and i want to paint a squad up along with Nork(and finally finishing all 4 special catachan characters!).
I already dipped the 3 chosen ogryns in Chrystal soup and started pinning them together. Nork got primed and are ready for paints.
I hope you will take the time to help me give something back.
Best wishes Ras

Power weapons WIP
Hi guys. A little quick update on some work in progress, my powerweapon sargeants. I have had a few thoughts on how to do my catachan powerweapons. First idea was to make it less shiny than normal powerweapons, kinda like overheated metal. I somehow didnt like that tought tho, i mean comeon its powerweapons! So i started painting them like my Dark angel powerweapons since i really like how they came out and this is how they came out.
However after a day of looking at them i decided that its to flashy and the blue just didnt look right on em. So i decided to go for same style but other colors. This is how it came out and will be what i stick with unless people can convince me otherwise.
All i need to do now is to paint the pants camoflage, which i am making a small tutorial on since a few people have been emailing me for help on.
Until next time

Beaten by feber..
Against all the odds, i caught something a few days before the tournament started. What started out as a sore throat the day before, escalated into a fever and i was now not able to finish the last bit and in the end to compete in R3T..
This is what i had prepared the night before. I had primed the last 3 mortar crews and made the 3 bases for them.
The 3 mortar crews i had already finished. |
I plan on finishing the last bit during next week if the fever is gone(if god will it) and then do a battle report with pictures of the whole thing against someone at the club versus his R3T list vs my own R3T list just so i get to play a fully painted army for the first time and also at the same time play against one!

Ratlings VIP

By the way, the Ratling to the right seems to wear the traditional red headband of a Catachan jungle fighter..
Did he earn the right to wear it with some impressive shooting that might have saved a catachan or two or his reckless bravery for a hobbit? Or maybe hes just a damn good cook? Who knows these things!
What do you guys think?

Catachan Chimera part 1.
Finally managed to put the Chimera together as i wanted it and Michael was great and told me to come over with it right away! I cant describe how pleased i am with the air-spray job on the chimera and how fast he did it! I am gonna make a 3 part post about the chimera as i really wanna share my joy with you guys all through the steps.
After i came home i was so pleased with it that i decided to go all the way with it. I ordered for 200 danish crowns worth of Vallejo pigments...! And i never used pigments before!! I am very exited about trying it out tho. However firstly i need to paint the crewman, weapons and tank details.
For people like me who either don't want to pay for a air-spray setup just for a few tanks(or cant afford one), getting someone to do it for you is well worth it! I have all the details to do but basically Michael just did all the painting that i hate doing(and can never seem to come out as i want with a brush) so now i can enjoy painting all the fun parts and really get into personalizing it with weathering and lots of cool little small details.
Michael have his own blog where he also have prices, pictures of his work and he almost always are running discounts on something. Hes a really cool and down to earth kinda guy whom you can always discuss prices with if you have a specific job you want done. Go give him a visit and check out his prices if you interested in getting some painting done by him.
Next part i will show you how the paint job came out and then the last part will be about the pigments and how they came out.

Sentinel and heavyweapons team WIP
Time for some updates!
I have had a rather busy time with my girlfriends parents coming to visit from Romania and the death of my grandfather.. Easy to say its been a rather hard time with the ladder and happy but busy time with the first.
I did manage some work on my monthly goal which will be a scout sentinel for my 500 point list. I did not glue on the roof yet to make it easier to paint the pilot and the insides. This will be my first real vehicle and i am planning to add battle damage, weathering and personalize it. Suffice to say i got lots of plans on this and i cant wait to get started painting it!
The second thing i am working on at the moment is a another heavy weapons team and after reading a very motivating blog with a guy collecting the same army i got inspired to try a new approach on my own army.

So without further delay heres my second HWT. Instead of having 3 HWT sitting in attacking mode, i wanted this setup to reflect the way these teams work in the jungle. The HWT teams carry these heavy weapons out in the jungle to set em up when a bigger punch is needed. So i wanted one of my HWT to show em putting the weapon up ready for assault. I wanted this team to look like they are hurried to set it up(maybe they got some nasty incoming in the bushes :)).
Now the model is not finished put together and i do not want to glue them together before painting them since it will be much more difficult to paint together then separate. The Auto cannon will be glued in the handle to the guy pointing and the barrel will be lying in the two hands of the guy holding it. also the bases will be stripped and the two catachans will be glue to the big base. Suffice to say i am very pleased about this and i cant wait to paint them after the sentinel.
I am also working on some terrain which you will see a quick glimt of in my latest youtube movie on my channel "zacret"
