Battlereport - Catachans vs The black Legion

Yesterday i finally had the pleasure of playing against Kristoffers Black legion. We agreed on a 1000 points and played a mission Kristoffer had made. He also brought one of the most awesome terrain pieces i ever seen, painted up by himself! "The skyshield landing pad"!


MISSION
“Beachhead”



MISSION OVERVIEW
The enemy has made planet fall and seek to hold a vital landing platform to bring in further reinforcement to continue the invasion. The defender must hold its positions against these aggressors and if possible push them back off the planet.

DEPLOYMENT
Pitched battle with the following additions: The attacker may place one landing platform up to 24” away from the long table edge. He must then place one troop choice in base contact with the platform. The defender then places any two pieces of terrain in his deployment zone, no closer than 15” to the short table edge. After he deploys his army.

OBJECTIVES

The landing platform and the two terrain pieces counts as objectives. The attacker controls an objective as long as one model is in base contact with it. The defender only controls an objective if it has at least one model in base contact with it and there are no contesting units. 

VICTORY CONDITIONS

The player holding most objectives in the end of the game wins. If both players control equal objectives kill points will decide the winner. If they have equal kill points the game is a draw.

FIRST TURN

The attacker always gets first turn

SPECIAL RULES
Reserves, Deep Strike. Safe Landing (the player controlling the landing platform may deep strike directly onto it without rolling for scatter). The landing platform otherwise follows the rules as described per rulebook: Planetstrike. Any non-vehicle andnon-beast unit in reserve may chose to deep strike via the landing platform by the controlling player. 




Deployment
Kristoffer won the roll, chose attacker and put the skyshield in the left part of the table. I put 1 objective opposite the skyshield and another one on the other table side hoping to split his forces. Lets look at our deployment












CSM turn 1:
Kristoffer moved everything but his 5 CSMs on the shyshield forward, keeping his berserker rhino in cover. The Dreadnaught gets blood rage, so no shotting with him this turn. He does however fleet towards my infantry squad.




 He then shoots down my vendetta(which fails it 4+ coversave from scout turbobosting).




He also starts thinning my infantry squads killing a few guardsmen and the cc vet in my CCS.




IG turn 1:
I spread my combined squad more and same with the CCS while moving then a little close(The berserkers worries me and i dont want to get to close to them so they can charge me next turn. I also moves the chimera with the vets towards the skyshield.


In my shotting phase i pretty much fluffed all my shotting. I managed to shacke the empty rhino under the skyshield.


CSM turn 2:
Kristoffer moves his berserker rhino to just infront of my combined squad, spreads out his CSM on the shyshield for more firepower, moves his prince, dreadnought, 1 rhinos and obliterator forward.


In his shooting phase he wrecks my basilisk, thins out even more in my combined squad, shakes my chimera and blows smoke on the berserker rhino!


IG turn 2:
I move my chimera close to the berserker rhino and disembarks the vets. My combined squad moves towards the berserkers aswell and forms a firing line. I move my PCS in the opposite direction of the prince.


I then manages to explode the berserker rhino (which in turn explodes 5 inces and killed 4 more guardsmen!) with the autocannons. Luckely i pass a leadership test and then the berserkers dies in a torrent of plasma and lasgun shots. I pop smoke on my chimera.




CSM turn 3:
Kristoffers terminators comes in and deep strikes right in the berserker crater! He moves his dreadnaught in cover behind a wall, his prince moves towards the PCS(mwhah puny humans!), he moves 1 rhino behind one of the objectives near the wreck.




And then it comes! My combined squad gets reduced to 2 power weapons sarges, 1 meltagun and 1 lasgun from combined fire of the terminators and CSM on the skyshield. His dreadnaught shakes my chimera. 




He runs with the price but rolls a 1.




IG turn 3:
I move the last remains of my combined squad and the CCS as close as possible to the terminators ready to charge the terminators(Get them lads!).




The vets open up fire on the skyshield and kills all but the icon bearer. The mortars fires at the CSM on the right objective, but scatters. The autocannons immobilizes and gets a weapon destroyed on the rhino underneath the skyshield. The combined squad opens fire along with the CCS on the terminators and kills 1. The chimers drives back and picks up the PCS just in time to escape the evil prince!


Get us the hell out of here!!!!!!
 The combined squad charges, but i roll a 1 and 2 and fails just 2 mm in front of the terminators! Strakens squad  manages to charges them tho and pummels them to the ground  without loosing any members! They then consolidates towards the dreadnought while spreading out("Heavy flamer, spread out!!!")




CSM turn 4:
Kristoffer looses his dreadnought to bloodrage so no heavy flamer on the CCS(PHEW!!!!) and moves towards the closest victim, the CCS. The price starts climbing the Vedetta wreck(the dice marks how far he got in his movement phase) and he moves his CCS and obliberator in better firing position. He moves his last remaining CSM on the skyshield to cover(dammit! still a claiming unit)


In his shooting phase he hits the chimera but i take my saves. The CSM puts a wound on the mortars.




The dreadnought charges the CCS and the prince tries to charge the chimera but he misses it by 2 mms! The dreadnought kills the flamer vet and a bodyguard that jumps in front of Straken(Arrrgghhh!). Straken stuns it in return twice! the CCS wins thanks to the banner, however the dreadnought dont cares..


IG turn 4:
The vets moves towards the skyshield along with the combined squad. The chimera backs away from the prince.


The mortars fires at the CSM again but he takes his saves. The chimera fires at the prince and puts a wound on hims. the Autocannons fire on the last CSM on the skyshield but misses(only 1 team could see him).


The fight continues against the dreadnought! The dread kills the last bodyguard and Straken flufs his rolls managing only a stunned!




CSM turn 5:
The prince finally passes the vendetta wreck! The last remaning CSM on the skyshield moves further back on the skyshield. The CSM camps with the obliterator on the objective while the second obliterator moves towards the skyshield.


The obliterator on the objectives immobalizes the chimera and the other one near the skyshield scatters his plasmacannon. The prince set into a run toward the chimera. 


The dreadnaught kills the standard bearer but finally dies to Straken who then consolidates 6 inces up on the Skyshield towards the last CSM there.




IG turn 5:
The vets moves in claiming range of the skyshield and the PCS and combined squad moves toward the prince.


The autocannons open fire on the prince and takes two wounds from him(1 wound left!). The combined and PCS runs towards my table edge. The vets open up on the obliterator but fails to do anything. Mortars  tries to take the last wound from the prince but fails to wound.




The CCS charges the CSM, kills him and consolidates towards the obliterator.




CSM turn 6:
The game goes on. Kristoffer moves his prince towards the chimera.


The obliterator at the objective with the last CSM squad then fires on my PCS with his plasmacannon but i make my save. THe last obliterator shoots at the vets getting 2 kills(not enough for a panic test).


The prince charges the chimera but fluffs his attacks and only manages a weapons destroyed...




IG turn 6:
I move the CCS toward the obliterator along with the vets. The PCS moves towards the skyshield and the combined moves towards the prince(its melta time!).




The combined squads melta open fire on the prince but i roll a 1 to wounds. The vets kills the obliterator.




Sweet ride!
 CSM turn 7:
The game goes on! The prince leaves the chimera and moves through the ruins. We realize that if he fails the charge then he have no chance of winning and roll to see if he do. He needs a 5 but rolls lower. IG wins.


Whats that sound behind the wall?!?
Kristoffer was a blast to play and i had a ton of fun. I must say it was a joy playing against such a nice guy and such a beautiful army! The game was really close all the way. Better games you cant find! I promised him that he have a rematch waiting for him next time he comes here. Favorite quote for the whole evening had to be:" I am loosing to IG, In close combat!!!!"

Battle Report 2 1500 points IG VS Orks

Rematch from last battle rapport. I meet Jacobs Orks on  spear head with size ground as mission. The list is a smaller version of my soon to be 1750 list that i will bring to the tournament at 9k in November.

First Battle Report in HD

Hi guys thought i would share this battle rapport i did over the last game i played at the club. Me and the wife recently bought a HD camera and i wanted to give it a try. The game was against one of my friends who plays Orks and i brought my tournament list with a Hellhound and 10 ratlings to buff it up to 1500 points as we agreed on.

Battlereport - Catachans vs generic marines

Yesterday i went to my local club to play a 1000 point game against a guy there. I changed my list a bit to try out some demolition action with Harkers squad.

CATACHANS:

HQ:
CCS: Straken, medic, 2 laspistols with close combat weapons,2 bodyguards, carapace armor and vox.
 
TROOPS:
PCS:  Vox and heavy bolter HWT.
Infantry squad 1: grenadelauncher, HWT with missile launcher and vox.
Infantry squad 2: grenadelauncher, HWT with missile launcher and vox.
HWT 1: 3 Missile launchers. 
HWT 2: 3 autocannons. 
Veteran squad: Harker, 2 melta, flamer and 1 demolition charge.

ELITE:
Marbo:
Ogryns: 2 ogryns + bone ead

FASTATTACK:
1 scout sentinal squad: 1 with autocannons and 1 missile launcher


GENERIC SPACE MARINES:

1 chapter captain with 5 terminators with stormshield and thunderhammers in a Landraider.
1 razorback twinlinked assualtcannons with 5 spacemarines(one vet sergeant)

1 razorback twinlinked assualtcannons with 5 spacemarines(one vet sergeant)
5 scouts with sniper riffles(one vet sergeant)
With a few upgrades i cant remember in my head. Extra armor and captain was armed with some kind of a power weapon and more i cant remember, but basically that's it

Mission: Capture and control.
Deployment: Dawn of War.
My opponent won first turn..


1st turn: Night fight.

We both place our objectives in our corner furthest away from each others armies and he deploy his Landraider and 1 razorback closest to my forces as possible. 1 razorback in defense and his unit of scouts in the ruin with the objective.

My eyes almost starts tearing up when i see him pulling his landraider up from his bag.. armor 14... my strongest cannons have str 8.. How am i gonna stop this monster?!


I decide to turtle up in the ruins in the button of my left side. Everything but 1 infantry squad and my pcs is dedicated at stopping his advance. I placed my objective near the ruins hoping if i couldn't stop them i could maybe contest it while Harker sneak in and grabs his objective. I deploy Straken and his boys + the ogryns ready to move in and act as meat shield for my squishy squads. Straken have not yet let me down in my 4 games and he is about to begin the ultimate test...
 


He got first turn AND it is night fight.. this means he gets two turns of driving towards me without me doing much shooting. 1st turn nothing really happens... he drives forward, rolls to see if he can see anything and he cant. His snipers notice something in the ruins and fires, so does his razorback. My inf squad and pcs makes the saves. I fire with about half my weapons and i didn't penetrate anything. I move Strakens squad + the ogryns forward!


Turn 2: Here comes the pain...!
He drives his landraider in front of Straken and his terminators + captain rushes out! His las cannon hits the auto cannon sentinel and it explodes. His scouts shots some more on the inf squad and 1 dies. His razorback shots at my pcs and they do their saves.

His terminator squad charges in and engages both Strakens squad and my ogryns, which ends in me killing 1 terminator and me loosing 1 bodyguard 2 vets, gets one wound on Straken and 1 ogryn gets 1 wound! Strakens squad holds the line but the ogryns run..!

My turn, my ogryns rally and consolidate 3 inces towards the terminators! Marbo and Harkers boys comes in from just the right side! Overly joyed i realize that Marbo coming in was a very bad thing.. All my opponents units are inside razorbacks cept for the sniper squad(which Harker can take care of) and the engaged terminators.... I decide to try and blow up the razorback with his demo charge.

I try to pop the razorback so Marbo can throw his demolition charge in the marines faces. I failed... As a last resort Marbo throws it on the razorback and misses!! After the failure i realize i still had one sentinel left with a missile launcher and i penetrate and its wrecked! His marines are climbing out and gets pinned.

Back to Harkers boys. I throw the demolition charge in the snipers faces and misses again. My flamer, meltas and rapid firing lasguns nails 2 and the rest runs over the board(Might not have been pretty much they got the job done).

Back to the terminators.. The ogryns charges the terminators again and to everyone's surprise.. Straken and the ogryns wipes the terminators...! Only the captain survives.. who immediately flees(I am getting the fuck away from that)!

Hes runs 2 incs and i consolidate behind him to use him as a meat shield to gain a cover save. Not a bad turn for me!


Turn 3: Who is gonna win?!
The intact razorback drives towards Harkers squad and fires its weapons. Harkers squad takes 3 wounds but passes their moral test. The captain auto rallies and choose to move back while firing at Straken but misses.

My Turn Harkers boys moves towards the razorback and my opponent remembers that the boys are carrying meltas... My Ogryns moves towards the pinned marines and Straken and marbo(with melta bombs) charges the Landraider. Harkers boys nails the razorback and it explodes! 2 marine dies in the explosion and the rest  passing their pinning test.

On the Landraider Straken and Marbo fails to damage the Landaraider with absolutely horrible rolls!






Turn 4: Get to the choppah!
The space marines jumps into the Landraider and drives towards the objective..! In the other corner his marines fires on Harkers boys and they take 2 more wounds. The land raider puts 1 wound one one autocannon HWT and kills another. The captain shots marbo.


My turn, Straken charges the landraider. the captain dies to massed fire from my infantry and heavy weapons team and Harkers boys manages to kill only one space marine! Straken glances the Landraider but only rolls 1!


Turn 5: The end that would never finish!
The marines charges Harkers boys and kills 1, who in return do nothing, the pass the leadership test. The landraider drives to the objective and unloads the marines who rapid fires into the the auto cannons and kills one more, landraider puts another wound on the last HWT.

My turn i move my sentinel into position to shot at the marines near the Landraider. Straken runs with the ogryns towards my own objective along with the infantry squad and the last heavy weapon team. Its a race! I pour all my fire into the 5 marines and only manages to kill 2 with 4 missile launchers and rapid fire from 6 lasguns! Realizing my mistake and that i can actually loose the game i run my pcs and inf squad towards his objective! My inf squad charges the marines, loosing and runs of the board!



Turn 6: Dogfight!
His marines jump back in the Landraider and it fires at the sentinel which destroys it. Marines vs Harkers boys end in a draw with no wounds. 


My turn Straken charges the laindraider thanks to his bionic arm, blows it up! The marines looses one marine. 2 left..... Harkers boys kills 1 marine and the last marines fails to kill any! He passes his leadership test tho my last hope of pulling a turn 7 win is gone.





Turn 7: Game Over.
The game ends and we are overly joyed over the most intense game any of us have had so far. Its my game 5 and his game 4 so we are both very new to the game and our armies. It ended in a draw and we hand shook and agreed that we need a another game soon.

I think what could happen, happened in this game and i learned a very valuable lesson. Never be lazy and think you won when you haven't. I should have moved my PCS towards the razorback when it went down. I might not have made it but i might have. The Landraider was a nightmare and i really need some hard punch in my 1500 list. Maybe a vendetta gunship and a HWT las cannons?

The demolition charges failed me this game, but it just shows that i was unlucky,one game doesn't prove anything i will keep testing it in the next few games as well.
