Catachan flamers! Platoon command squad done for the tournament!

Can you guys guess which ones are the newer ones?
Burn it up! I had to convert more flamers. I already got all the old school models painted up but 3 more where needed, so i went on to build em from the plastic spruces. I really love how they came out! I didn't expect it but i think they go well with the old ones and add ferocity to the squad!

First bunch of guardsmen done! My platoon command squad with flamers are done and i will be moving on to the special weapons squad, but first i want to talk a little about the models.

Here is how it ended up looking.
I messed up one of the flamers when i build him. I wanted everyone of them to be unique. I decided on a guardsmen that pointed to the rest and i took a arm from the newer catachan command sprues. These models are slimmer tho and when the models had dried i noticed to my horror that there was a huge cleft between the shoulder and arm!

I decided to try something i often do. I use the model and work my magic with the brush! I gave him a metal right torso(I had to be replaced after a Tau plasma riffle blew  of a piece of the poor guy.. That never stopped a catachan tho!).

The platoon command squad for my list.
I also managed to paint up the platoon commander, which is a model i been dying to paint for a long time. The old school sergeant with laspistol and close combat weapon that i got of Ebay a while ago.

Look at that mug, they just don't make models like that anymore!

I also finished another demolition charge guardsmen and a old heavy bolter crewmen for the special weapons squad AND i built my first Vendetta! I changed my list abit as well, but still need the last parts to fall into place. More to come guys.

Platoon command squad with plasma done

I got the plasma gun i needed from Alex(thanks alot my friend!) at the club Thursday evening so i have no excuse not to finish it. I am very happy how the plasma came out. I went back and redid the plasma gun on the commander so it matched the rest. I planned on running the commander with a bolgun but  as you saw from my last post i decided to go with the plasmapistol.

Time to kick ass and chew bubblegum and i am all outta gum! I am very happy i did get the boltgun commander painted tho as he was very fun to paint and i just love the Duke Nukem glasses and the cigar in his mouth! This model is one of the reasons why i am collecting all the old school models(the plasma gun guy at the furthest to the right is also a old school model.)

Coming up next is their ride which i plan on improving the weathering on compared to the last one. You guys will as always be the judges if i succeed or not.

Until next time guys

Platoon command squad done.

Finally i finished my platoon command squad.

I magnetized my commander with a lasgun, boltgun and plasmagun. The ladder i really like the look of, makes him stand out more and when i think about it, a plasmagun would deliver a nice punch against harder units approaching. It seems kinda a waste not to give him that plasma.

My 500 point list platoon command squad includes a platoon commander, guardsman with vox, guardsman with grenade launcher and 2 guardsmen with normal equipment. I will paint two more guardsmen for my squad but i just had to paint the whole squad with all the options of medic, regimental standard, voxcaster and commander.

I cant wait to try the unit out and experiment with the different setups possible in this squad.

Platoon command squad update 1

So i got the Medic and Platoon standard painted as the goal of the week. I am very happy on how they came out.

The Medic: I might add a bit of blood on him but i am not sure about yet. Might also work a bit more on the vials as i dunno how to make em more realistic. The vial tops are so small so they are really hard to paint.
Other than that i am pleased on the medic.

Platoon standard: This is my first time ever painting banners and i started out trying to get it neat and nice and when i finished it i realized.... there is nothing neat and nice about my catachan army, why on earth should the standards be neat and nice. We are talking jungle fighters who will drag a standard into the forest through dirt, mud and trees. A standard is for sure gonna be dirty. With that in mind i started giving it a dirty look with some washes( Gryphon sepia, Ogryn flesh and Badab black).

I added a wound on his left arm with gliding blood and gave his bandaged arm some blood as well so give him a bit more gritty look (no soldiers even a standard bearer are staying out of a fight in a catachan army;))

Progression update 1

I am testing a new way of taking pictures of my models and whats a better way to test it than on the halfway finished Infantry squad(got 5 models down 5 to go). I am painting the rest of the squad and my platoon command squad with the deadline to the end of this month.

The rest of the models are put together(accept for the platoon commander which i am still considering to magnetize with all his options) and are ready for some paints.

Here is the rest.

My plan is that i will start with the medic and the platoon standard and finish them during this week. I will upload the finished models as soon as i finish them.
